Why health is not an accident.
We live in a world of the functionally ill, able to work and have a life but unable to enjoy truly vibrant health. Society treats good health as a given, something that will always be there. In fact, we often take it for granted. We have been duped by slick marketing, and a passivity of the health care system only to manage illness, not create health. It is true that we need a good health care system, but treating illness is secondary to being healthy and creating health. Too much emphasis on the disorder, syndrome, and illness has created an ever increasing problem in our society today. These are the symptoms of an illness based system, not a health based system. Here is where we stop the insanity of poor health and build a plan for optimal health. Genetics tell us that the cards we are dealt in life make up about 20%, and that our environment is the other 80%. Our environment is not only where we live, and what air we breathe it is the food we eat and the fluids we drink, and the way we treat ourselves and others, our emotional environment is also part of it. 80% that’s a BIG variable, lots of room for change and improvement.
